The redesigned search menu in Windows 11 has been criticized by Jensen Harris, who was responsible for Windows user experience at Microsoft.

As per the expert, the main problem with the search results was that they contained too many unnecessary elements. In addition to the search results, Harris saw an advertising banner for the Bing Wallpaper application when he entered the query “chrome” in the search box.
Additionally, Harris says the banner’s text is not centered, and the background is a ‘picture from the time of Windows Vista‘. In addition, the specialist disliked the banner’s corners.
Other drawbacks were present as well. Some elements were closed by the button “Open results in the browser”, and the button “Web Store” was cut. The search window also displayed two banners, but neither of them improved the user’s experience.

Finally, an ex-employee criticized the placement of the Start button in the center of the taskbar, since it used to be on the left. In Windows 11, it can be moved to the same location, but by default it is centered.
Previously, Harris had described how to create a system login sound for Windows 8.
