Cloudflare has unveiled a new solution that could work for smartphone and mobile internet users.
We are talking about an eSIM, which is called a zero trust SIM card. Its feature is that it provides a higher level of security and reduces the risk of falsifying numbers.
DNS requests through the Cloudflare gateway
Technically, we’re talking about sending DNS requests through Cloudflare’s gateway, which allows you to protect them from eavesdropping and spoofing. It also promises to check all intermediate nodes through which the device accesses the Internet.
According to Cloudflare CTO John Graham-Cumming, Zero Trust SIM technology can go beyond VPNs and other security systems because it will provide mobile-level protection.
Zero Trust Sim and Cloudflare eSim
The Zero Trust SIM will first be available in the US, initially only as a virtual card for iOS and Android. Once activated, it will connect to a specific device and allow it to be protected. Physical cards are also expected to appear in the future.
The company also launched Zero Trust for Mobile Operators, a partnership program for mobile operators that will provide an opportunity to subscribe to Zero Trust platform services and tools. In addition, it is expected to have similar projects.
