ID Software’s popular shooter Quake, released in 1996, has been ported to several different devices.
Apple Watch Version of Quake by ID Software
Now available on Apple Watch. A developer with the nickname MyOwnClone (real name: Thomas Wimazal) has ported the shooter to the watch. Thus, he added the ability to use touch buttons.
Digital Crown navigation wheel and gyroscope
According to the author, he was helped by the existing source code ports for macOS and iOS. The game has 640 x 480 pixels at 60 FPS video, plays sound through the watch’s built-in speakers, and supports the Digital Crown navigation wheel and gyroscope.
Quake for the Game Boy Advance
The game version itself is available on GitHub, but installation requires compiling the code using the Xcode development environment on a Mac. It also requires the original Quake map file. So you can’t just download the game from the App Store, but the repository describes the process of creating a port.
It was previously reported that a copy of Quake for the Game Boy Advance handheld had been found.
