On two recent flights, two people were caught watching a movie or listening to music without headphones as other passengers tried to sleep or work. This continuing problem shows that it’s wrong to think that it’s okay to miss out on the chance to listen to a good movie or hear a good song by not using headphones.
I’m still baffled by how anyone could think it was okay to ignore the airplane’s pleas for headphone use when watching a movie or listening to music on their phones. Two recent incidents on two different airlines on two different continents, however, reaffirm that this problem is still a major one.
Watching a movie without headphones on a commercial airline flight is always unacceptable
On my earlier Vueling flight, a woman one row forward passed the time on a 2.5-hour flight watching a movie on her mobile phone without headphones. The volume was way up and the noise was quite disruptive.
Despite passing her several times, the crew never asked her to use headphones or turn the sound off.
I avoid approaching people when boarding a plane because I don’t want to be the victim of the latest story of a violent passenger.
Whether or not you think my approach was passive-aggressive, I asked a flight attendant if she could ask a crewmember to give her headphones and, sure enough, he did. However, she never got them out and simply turned the volume down a few notches and continued watching. The crew failed to follow up with her.
Using noise-canceling headphones
Using noise-canceling headphones, I drowned out the ambient noise so that the movie could be heard (at the same time, of course).
I wasn’t planning on writing about this, but it happened again yesterday. A child was playing a game in the row behind me and his parents asked him to lower the volume. Even though he turned the volume down, you could still hear it.
He was thankfully able to watch the seatback TV after about 30 minutes of game playing, which emits no noise.
I get why everyone has devices and wants to pass the time on planes. But can we please use headphones to also sit harmoniously together? Playing music out loud on a plane is never acceptable.
In conclusion, it can be concluded that IT is a vital part of modern society and businesses
