Huawei already has two hybrid cars: Aito M5 and M7
Huawei already has two hybrid cars, the Aito M5 and M7, and today the company unveiled its first electric car, the AITO M5 EV. Already by the name, it is clear that this is a purely electric version of the hybrid. In terms of design, there is no difference between the hybrid and the electric car, but the characteristics are different, of course.
Huawei Aito M5 EV
The base Huawei Aito M5 EV is priced at $41,585. It’s a single-wheel drive version with a range of 620 km (as measured by CLTC) and a sprint to 100 km/h in just 7.1 seconds. The top-of-the-line version is slightly more expensive at $46,100. It has four-wheel drive (496 hp), sprints to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and has a range of 552 km. The capacity of the traction battery in both cases is 80 kWh.
The Aito M5 EVhas an all-aluminum body and independent suspension: double wishbones at the front and multiple wishbones at the rear. There is also a patented dynamic torque distribution technology that works together with automatic recognition of road conditions. The axle weight distribution is 50 : 50. All this points to the ease, clarity and predictability of driving the Aito M5 EV. By the way, there should be no problems with the brakes: according to official data, the braking distance of the Aito M5 EV is only 35.3 meters at 100 km/h.
Development of the Mercedes-Benz EQC and BMW IX3
The developers have done a good job not only with the ride quality of the car, but also with its aerodynamics: handles are hidden in the body, a short spoiler on the tailgate and 20-inch aerodynamic wheels. This, together with a careful study of body contours, has reduced the drag coefficient to 0.266 Cd. This is less than the Mercedes-Benz EQC and BMW iX3 (0.29 Cd in both cases).
Aito M5 EV
As a full-fledged electric vehicle with a traction battery underneath, the Aito M5 EV is very roomy with dimensions of 4,785 x 1,930 x 1,620 mm and a wheelbase of an impressive 2,880 mm. Curb weight is 2235 or 2350 kg depending on the version. There are two suitcases. One is under the hood with a volume of 80 liters, and the other is full-fledged in the back. The car’s infotainment system runs on proprietary HarmonyOS 3.0. In terms of software, the Aito M5 EV can challenge high-end cars. There are two (!) 40-watt wireless chargers, three wired chargers that deliver 66 watts, and one that delivers 18 watts. In the center of the front panel there is a large screen for the multimedia system, as well as a projection screen and a panoramic hood. The Aito M5 EV has so many options that even BMW owners are envious.
Huawei’s Aito M5 EV
The Aito M5 EV will begin shipping to customers this year, and mass test drives in China will begin on September 24. From a price/performance standpoint, there’s no doubt that Huawei wants a piece of the pie from Tesla. The automaker that owns the Aito M5 EV. The great public interest in the news is evidenced by the fact that 30,000 car pre-orders were received within a few hours today. With the launch of the Aito M5 EV, Huawei has become an official competitor to Tesla – both now sell electric vehicles. In the near future, several IT companies will be involved in the production of electric vehicles: next year, Xiaomi will present its “electric car”.
