William Li, CEO and president of the famous Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio, announced that the company will launch its own smartphone in 2023. He said this when he opened Nio’s office (called “Nio House” by the company) in Dongguan.

The NIO president said the company’s phone progress has been relatively patchy, urging NIO users to delay replacing their phones by a year.

According to William Li, the company is not competing with traditional smartphone manufacturers, but Nio is trying to create a device with a unique design. Of course, it can be integrated into the ecosystem and used to drive the company’s vehicles. New models are released every year.

William Li cited the fact that the iPhone has limitations in supporting mmWave and that this technology is used in Nio machines as one of the reasons for the phone’s release. The Nio Mobile is expected to cost less than $1,000.
